Center for Living History

We invite you to visit Dill's Tavern, a National Register Historic Property.  Along with the surrounding Plantation, it has been rehabilitated as an educational facility and historic venue. Owned and operated by the Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society, events and activities are held to increase knowledge of local  history and to promote general interest and culture within the community.

Dill's Tavern offers 1.5 acres of natural historic gardens and property, including the spectacular 18th Century Tavern and its magnificent brick courtyard and balcony. With easy access from Route 15 near Harrisburg, Dill's Tavern is the perfect venue for casual or upscale weddings.

Intro to Blacksmithing

May 18th & May 19th at Dill's Tavern. $200.
This two-day course covers traditional techniques in blacksmithing. Students will work on coal forges and learn to use basic tools. Once fire management has been explained and mastered by participants, the class will learn drawing out, upsetting, slitting, punching holes, and welding. Little House on the Prairie Recipes for Kids

Saturday, June 15th at Dill's Tavern. $45.
This hands-on class for kids 8-12 years old is based on the life and stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of the popular Little House on the Prairie books.  Students will use recipes from Laura’s time to prepare a meal just as it would have been done when Laura was a young girl.  Enjoy the meal you helped cook in the Dill’s Tavern kitchen hearth. Colonial Kids Camp

July 22nd – 26th
NYCHAPS will be holding a Colonial Kids Camp from July 22-26, 2013. This week-long, half-day program will include crafts, games, and colonial way-of-life activities designed to be a hands-on historical experience. The cost is $125 per child with discounts to NYCHAPS members for their children or grandchildren. To register your child, print the Colonial Kids Camp brochure and mail it to NYCHAPS.
